We are excited about our new community presentation that is now available for FREE! Operation Lifesaver (OL), Rail Safety Education. Operation Lifesaver’s mission is to end collisions, deaths and injuries at highway-rail grade crossings and on railroad property through a nationwide network of volunteers who work to educate people about rail safety.
Hundreds of people are killed and thousands more are seriously injured each year in the United States at highway-rail crossings and along railroad tracks. Many people are unaware that trains cannot stop quick enough to avoid collisions. Others take chances by ignoring warning signs and signals, going around lowered gates, stopping on tracks, or simply not paying attention when approaching railroad crossings.
Operation Lifesaver educates the public about highway-rail grade crossing safety and the dangers associated with trespassing on railroad property. OL gets involved with engineering projects to improve public safety, and works with local public Safety community in an effort to reduce grade crossing and trespass incidents.
