How BLS Options Work

BLS is designed for professional responders and healthcare teams. You can take a full course, complete an online + skills blend, or (if eligible) recertify or challenge.

Do I need a current certification to take BLS?
Full BLS courses have no prerequisites. Recertification and Challenge options require a current or recently expired (within 1 year) BLS certificate (or equivalent).
What score do I need to pass?
You must pass the final exam with a score of at least 84% and successfully complete the required testing scenarios.
How long is the course?
Times vary by option. Instructor-led full course is designed for a minimum of 4.5 hours. Blended learning includes an online component plus an in-person skills session.
How long is the certification valid?
BLS certification is valid for 2 years after successful completion and course reporting.
